Welcome New Member
We are a group of people who enjoy all aspects of quilting, whatever our skill level. At ESQ we want to help new members feel welcome and learn about who we are. Exploring this website is a great place to start. The following summary of our activities will also help. If you would like someone to explain the activities of ESQ in more detail or offer suggestions of how you can volunteer to keep ESQ vibrant, please contact the Vice President at a meeting or at [email protected].
Meetings: ESQ meetings follow a pattern of guild business, Show & Tell, a short break, and then a quilt-related program. Many of these programs feature guest speakers who are well-known quilters, designers, and textile artists. Other programs may consist of fabric auctions, quilting tips, or just socializing (such as the December potluck and summer picnic).
ESQ meets the 3rd Thursday of the month from 10 am to noon at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 411 156th Avenue NE, Bellevue, downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.
Workshops: Speakers will sometimes present a class in the afternoon. While there is a nominal fee for these classes, members gain insights and tips from experts and start a project under their tutelage.
Field Trips: Several times during the year, arrangements are made for members to carpool to interesting quilt shops or quilt-related exhibits.
Show & Tell: Members are encouraged to bring completed (or not) projects to share with the group. Background stories related to those projects are welcomed. We all love to see the creativity and variety of each other's interpretation of traditional and modern quilts.
Quilt Challenges: If you enjoy a challenge, we frequently have some going on for those who wish to participate. They range from creating a “thing of beauty” from ugly fabric to theme quilts.
Community Outreach: Our members are generous with their time and materials in creating quilted projects for donation to various local organizations. These projects can be completed at home or during scheduled Stay & Sews.
Name Badge: The Membership Chair will provide you with a name badge and membership card. All members are asked to wear their name badge at the monthly meetings.
Volunteering: All functions of the guild - from president to greeter - are done by volunteers. Please consider taking an active role in the guild by volunteering your time - whether it's one hour or several hours. It is a great way to get to know other members and to form lasting relationships. Job descriptions for all committee chairs are available in the Members Area.
