The caring quilters of ESQ gladly share their time and talents with many community organizations. Over the years we have made Dresses for Africa, pillowcases for Sophia Way and Children's Hospital, lap quilts for patients at Overlake Hospital, quilt displays at area retirement homes, and patriotic quilts for veterans through Quilts of Valor. Fabric and batting donations for our outreach programs are always gratefully accepted.
This year our project focus will be on the charitable organizations listed below. *** See pictures of items made here! *** Stay & Sew workshops may be scheduled throughout the year to work on these projects and to further develop friendships among our members.
Adult-themed quilts at least 48" by 60" in size.
Evergreen Health Hospice
For those who like smaller projects, Evergreen has asked us to make dignity bags (for catheters) and dog-bone pillows for supporting arms, necks, backs, well, anything! The pattern for dignity bags is available at the Outreach table during meetings. Step-by-step instructions for the pillows can be found here. These are wonderfully comfortable made up in flannel, cotton, knits, or fleece! Ribbon handles aren't necessary for our pillows.
Eastside Baby Corner
Juvenile print or small quilts, 28" by 36" or larger.
St. Martin de Porres Shelter
This shelter for homeless men 50+ years old provides sleeping quarters, hot meals, counseling, and medical assistance. The guild collects travel-size toiletries like shampoo, lotion, and soap; new and gently used men's clothing including shoes, socks, and underwear; and items such as towels, sheets, and blankets.
