“UGLY” FABRIC CHALLENGE

January Program 2010

This is your opportunity to go through your stash and find the “ugliest” fabric you own. (This is, of course, subjective. . . . . one person’s ugly is another’s beauty !!) We do prefer to have “nice” ugly fabric.

Here’s what we would like you to do, if you want to participate in this challenge.

1. Pick a minimum of four or more “ugly” fabrics
2. Each piece must measure at least 10 inches square or 8 inches by 12 inches.
3. Total of all fabric must equal at least one yard minimum.
4. Bring all fabric in a paper bag or other decorative container and staple the top shut. (You may decorate your bag. If you like) We will give each bag a number.
5. Please include ONLY quilting cotton fabric. It is OK to include unwashed fabric. You may indicate if it is washed, otherwise it will be assumed to be unwashed.

Those participating in the challenge will have the opportunity to bid on the bag of their choice. No peeking! We will start the bidding at $1.00 with bids at 50 cent increments.

For the challenge, we would like each of you to use only the fabrics in the bag. You may use ONLY ONE fabric of your choice in the quilt top.

Create a small quilt or quilt top measuring 20 to 30 inches (mas y menos). Can be square, rectangle or any other shape. The entry can be either a quilt top or finished, if you like.

Challenge quilts will be displayed and voted on at the March meeting.
The prize for the best quilt will be very nice!!!
Prizes: First, Second, Third Place.
