Material Requirements
You will need

  1. Light and Dark 2 1/2" Strips
  2. Right Angle Cutting Ruler. (I used the Omnigrid 6 inch triangle -- see below.)
  3. Decide What Size Quilt You want to make:
    • Crib = 3 X 6
    • Twin/Lap = 5 X 8
    • Queen = 7 X 9

Instructions for January/February:

Separate into Light Strips and Dark Strips (can use Jelly rolls)
Crib 9 Dark and 9 Light
Twin/Lap 20 Dark and 20 Light
Queen 33 Dark and 33 Light

From both Light and Dark Strips Cut:
4 - 5 1/2 inch strips Crib: (36 each of Light/Dark) Twin/Lap: (80 each of Light/Dark) Queen: (132 each of Light/Dark)
2 - 13 inch strip Crib: (18 each of Light/Dark) Twin/Lap: (40 each of Light/Dark) Queen: (66 each of Light/Dark)
2 - 3 1/2 inch strips Crib: (18 each of Light/Dark) Twin/Lap: (40 each of Light/Dark) Queen: (66 each of Light/Dark)

Instructions for March:

Place the 13 1/2" strips light to dark (right sides together) and sew along the length (longside) of both sides.
Take the light 3 3/4" strips and draw a diagonal line starting 1/2" down from the top right side of the fabric ending 1/2" up on the bottom left side of the fabric. This should be a 45 degree angle so double check your lines before you sew. (The 45 degree angle is important and the gaps at the ends are important.

Match the 3 3/4" strips light and dark together and sew a scant 1/4" seam on both sides of the line.

Instructions for April:

Take the 3.5" blocks made in step 3 of March, cut along diagonal, press to dark side, and square up to 2.5"

Instructions for May:

With the 13" strips you will need your right triangle ruler. You will be cutting out four 3" triangles and one 2.5" triangle. (See pictures) In the last 2 pictures posted here most of us would just throw these scraps away. For now throw them in a sandwich bag and keep them set aside. (Currently may or may not be used later.)
